You Work Directly With Seasoned Professionals
When you work with NFI, you’ll have our team of three seasoned professionals at your disposal. Unlike at larger, more impersonal firms, your account isn’t handed off to a junior-level employee: Our top people work one-on-one with you.
The team members include two Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) practitioners and a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), and hold the licenses required to offer you securities and insurance products. Their deep collective education, experience, and expertise enable us to deliver the kind of service you expect and deserve.
These are the professionals of NFI:
Daniel F. Rea, CFP® is NFI’s founder and Managing Member and specializes in investment management and retirement planning.
With over 20 years of experience in financial services and over 15 years of focusing on financial planning and investment management, Dan has the extensive skills and know-how needed to help you realize your dreams.
Dan earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation—among the world’s most-recognized and respected financial planning credentials—from the College for Financial Planning. As a CFP®, he’s held to a higher standard of conduct and continuing education and commits himself to maintaining top levels of professionalism and expertise. He was selected for inclusion in the 2009 edition of Guide to America’s Top Financial Planners.
Dan started his professional career as a lender and assistant manager at Signal Financial and then Associates Financial Services after graduating from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in business management. He entered the financial planning and investing field in 1994 at American Express Financial Advisors in Pittsburgh. In 1997, he helped start Network for Financial Independence, also in Pittsburgh, and then launched NFI in 2005.
Debra L. Rea, CRPC® is a financial advisor at NFI. With over 18 years of experience in the financial sector, she brings you not only a wealth of knowledge and capabilities, but also a passion for helping people. She focuses on the management and asset allocation of employer-sponsored retirement plans and on education funding, and does extensive market and investment research.
As a holder of the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation from the College for Financial Planning, Debra adds an important dimension to the range of services you get from NFI. Earning the CRPC® means she has completed an in-depth, specialized program to achieve expertise both in pre- and post-retirement needs and in issues related to asset management and estate planning.
Debra helped start NFI after working as a financial advisor at Network for Financial Independence since 1999. Earlier in her career, she was a budget manager at the Port Authority of Allegheny County, a budgets and contracts specialist at the Abraxas Foundation and a grant administrator at Western Psychiatric Hospital, all in Pittsburgh. She earned a B.S. (magna cum laude) in finance from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Debra is a member of the National Association of Professional Women.
David E. Martin, CFP®® is a senior financial advisor at NFI. His 27+ years of experience enable him to work with you in a vast array of situations. While he specializes in estate planning and intergenerational planning, he also draws on his deep understanding of lending and real estate to counsel people through debt and credit crises and help them achieve the dream of home ownership.
Prior to joining NFI in 2007, David was president and CEO of Network for Financial Independence, which he founded in 1997, and a senior financial advisor at American Express Financial Advisors from 1982 to 1997.
David holds a B.S. in finance from Duquesne University and an M.S. in financial services from The American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. Due to his broad knowledge and expertise, he’s sought after by national and Pittsburgh-based media for financial and economic commentary and insights. David has taught classes for financial advisors, attorneys and accountants as an adjunct professor at Penn State University and The American College. In addition, he has published several case studies for the International Association of Financial Planners.
